What are Potters Colours?
Originally launched in Budapest in 2017 Potters Colours are made from combining 2 types of glazes. In ceramics, this is known as reactive glaze. The glazes react in the kiln at temperatures of 1300°C, forming different types of crystals, glaze runs, and can vary quite a lot from their original colours.
As glazes have different properties, such as colour, flow rate, and melting temperature, mixing 2 of them creates unexpected results, bringing an added excitement to the ceramics.
All of the products are hand dipped, making each finish unique. From every crystal growth, speckling spot, layering and flow separation, we are proud of the artisanal look we offer. In fact, these varied effects are highly prized – one of a kind!
Paying homage to tradition, and the potters who invented this technique thousands of years ago, this beautiful range was aptly named ‘Potters Colours’.
It’s not hard to see why they have quickly become a favourite here in Australia too!
