Description
Maximize Flexibility & Capacity in Your Large Big Green EGG with the CGS Large Spider & Deflectors
Unlock unparalleled cooking versatility and huge capacity in your Large Big Green EGG by pairing deflectors with the CGS Large Spider.
Positioned at fire ring level, this setup is the foundation for two-zone grilling and massive low-and-slow BBQ. Go vertical with the Big Green EGG convEGGtor for optimal pizza placement.
Versatile Cooking Options
- BBQ (Low & Slow): Pair two 14″ half-moons with the Spider and Large Adjustable Rig for big cooks.
- Double Indirect: Place two 14″ half-moons on the Spider as the lower deflecting stone. Top deflector is your normal indirect setup: EGGspander, ConvEGGtor, PSWoo, Woo, or Adjustable Rig.
- Two-Zone Grilling: Drop one half-moon on the Spider for a direct/indirect setup at fire ring level.
– 14″ same deflector as most versatile
– 15″ provides max coverage
– 16″ is too large, won’t fit inside the fire ring - 15″ Important: A pair half-moons or a full round will not fit on the Spider inside the fire ring.
- Pizza Night: Use the Spider to push the pizza stone into the dome.

Big BBQ on the Adjustable Rig & Spider
No other rack system in the Large EGG matches this capacity. Use a pair of 14″ half-moons (or a full round) on the Spider beneath the Adjustable Rig to BBQ big:
- 4 pork butts
- 2 briskets
- 6 racks of ribs on 3 levels

Pizza & Dome Stone Setups
Invert a 3-Leg Spider atop the ConvEGGtor to create an air gap and push the pizza stone higher into the dome. The Original or Spider 2.0 can be used atop the convEGGtor.
Deflecting stone should always be equal to or slightly larger than your pizza stone.
- 14-inch matches the ConvEGGtor diameter
- 15-inch is the max recommended for high-in-dome placement
Pro Tip: Deflecting stone should always be equal to or slightly larger than your pizza stone.

Recommended Add-Ons
- CGS 14″ Stainless Drip Pan: Best size for the Spider inside the fire ring. Protects deflectors, extends ceramic life, and makes clean-up easy with foil.
- CGS Ceramic Spacers: Use 1″ spacers under pizza stones to improve airflow. (Not recommended under grids sitting directly on the fire ring—too little clearance.)
Use & Care
- Heat gradually with the grill to prevent thermal shock.
- Always use a drip pan during BBQ cooks.
- Do not oil or place in dishwasher. Scrape debris and gently burn off residue.
- Natural smoke darkening is normal.
- Avoid high-heat clean burns.
